When we commit, we commit hard…

When we commit, we commit hard…
Wild West is celebrating his 4th Halloween this coming Sunday. To our guy, this is the best part of the year. He has an affinity to dress up as a policeman, cowboy, and doctor on the regular. Now he can wear the outfit to school, this boy's smile is from ear to ear.
While there have been mentions on the podcast of my lovely mother and brother calling me cheap, I want to discuss a little more regarding Halloween. I will admit that year 1 was me just being cheap. He wasn’t even a year old, couldn’t walk, and barely knew his tongue from his toe. ( there was another expression I wanted to use but…) Our good friends Poly and Pam gifted West a Ducati onesie and teddy bear. It was “bashert” (Yiddish for meant to be)
The only thing this kid loved more than Mickey Mouse, was sitting on the “motos” with dad saying “vroom vroom” while imitating holding the handlebars.
Then year two- the “moto” obsession did not die down, and on a trip to Miami, we did our usual Wynwood gallery/art tour and stopped at Ducati Miami. I picked out a jersey for him (naturally 2 sizes too big for extended use) and Halloween costume number 2 was complete.

Ducatis and motorcycles are still a big love of my sons, but no one holds a candle to Jack Sparrow and all Pirates. Now that he could tell me what he wanted to be I was excited to go forward and make his costume. I’m not a Pinterest mom AT ALL. I just always remember my own mother making costumes. So a few trips to Michael’s and Target and the costume was complete. Now year 4- no surprise it's still “A Pirate's Life for West,” but he needed a little Will Turner spin. We purchased a new Pirate Hat in St. Augustine at the pirate's museum. The museum was a bust, scared him beyond belief, and left me overspending in the gift shop to compensate. (mom life)

All and all I’m into committing to a costume and doing it a few times over. I can’t wait to see what new obsessions he picks of his childhood-
If you didn’t hear last week's podcast, Mike and I recap Boston and might overshare some of the couples banter with you, Sorry!
Next week is my Birthday, 33 on the 3rd. Goodness, how did that happen?
