I-95 McDonald's Tech Chaos
Sitting in a booth at McDonald’s on the side of I-95 trying to connect to their complimentary wi-fi was definitely a moment that I will not forget. I’m finally on a consistent podcast schedule, booking talent to interview, and even being asked to be on other podcasts!
I officially told myself no more of this hodgepodge- connecting over zoom app while driving the car and silencing West to the podcast over Apple CarPlay. It was time to set up a real studio and proper equipment.
In hindsight, this was more than just a dedicated podcasting studio and equipment, and I didn’t realize until I sat down to write this post what it was. I had a completely different angle, and in all reality it was me learning how to say NO. I didn’t want my engagements to stop spontaneous family outings or get in the way of a quick boat ride to lunch.
It’s hard for me to say no. I know this, I am a people pleaser. But at what point is it worth the headache of tech drama, or my precious West just showing me a red car while driving on the road.
I have a podcast scheduled for tomorrow which is Monday. It took a lot of back and forth to confirm the time. Instead of just agreeing to the first option the guest said; I took a minute to look at the schedule and confirm a date and time that was not going to stress me out! Surprise, we managed to come up with this mutually agreed upon time, and my fear of her just blowing me off didn't happen…
I talk more about life and how I'm learning to balance it all in episode 28. Please listen and comment on the photo of West that matches this post, on my Instagram feed and let me know if you've had similar experiences!
